Overview
The Information Technology department is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Business Systems Analyst to join our team. This role acts as the vital link between the IT department and business units across the organization, ensuring that systems and processes run smoothly and meet operational objectives. The city is undergoing a significant digital transformation, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such asAI, cloud-based platforms and advanced analytics to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will lead key projects, sustain existing business applications, evaluate the effectiveness of business processes, and support the implementation of new systems that drive operational efficiency. You will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, interacting with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and design solutions that align with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in computer systems technology from a recognized post-secondary institution plus at least 5 years related experience in an integrated information technologies environment, including maintaining and supporting enterprise grade applications such as land/finance management, SharePoint, ERP systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience;


Requirements

  • Serve as the primary interface between business units and the IT department to ensure that technology meets organizational needs.
  • Lead and participate in system implementations, upgrades, and enhancements, including the analysis, design, testing, and deployment of new applications.
  • Sustain and optimize existing business systems, including SharePoint, ERP, financial systems, and other enterprise-grade applications.
  • Evaluate and improve business processes by analyzing system performance, identifying issues, and developing solutions or workarounds to ensure continuous operational efficiency.
  • Participate in gathering and documenting business requirements, conducting workshops, and preparing alternatives for solution designs.
  • Support project planning and execution by preparing technical reports, documentation, and business cases, including elements of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and procurement processes.
  • Provide technical leadership, training, and support to user departments, ensuring they understand and effectively utilize the systems in place.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure system reliability and successful project outcomes.
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies and trends in business systems and process optimization to recommend innovative solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise-grade applications, systems architecture, and business process analysis, with the ability to lead projects related to both custom and off-the-shelf software solutions.
  • Strong experience in business systems analysis, process improvement, and project management, with the ability to evaluate complex problems and propose data-driven solutions.
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms (such as Microsoft O365, Xplore, and SharePoint) and the ability to implement, support, and manage cloud-based applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Tempest, Power BI or other reporting tools, including building data models, designing reports, and generating insights from enterprise data.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications, document workflows, and manage system changes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining focus on high-impact objectives.
  • Familiarity with database management, reporting tools, and understanding of network environments and system components.
  • A strong customer service orientation, with an emphasis on providing value-added IT services that align with organizational goals.
