Job Description Are you passionate about maps, data, and shaping the world around you? The Town of Peace River is searching for a GIS/Asset Management Technician to help keep our community informed, connected, and ahead of the curve! Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the administration, maintenance and management of the Town of Peace River asset information systems including but not limited to GIS and CityWorks.
  • Collect and maintain all assets data (including gifted assets) for a complete inventory.
  • Manage the timely creation and updates of all assets into our systems. 
  • Provide input to senior leadership to continually improve the programs.
  • Liaise with customers, both internal and external, to provide information on assets.
  • Create and update maps, reports, charts, and spreadsheets using GIS and CAD data to convey information to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Develop and provide thematic data and maps to support municipal operations.
  • Provide support and training for users to utilize system features and enhancements. 
  • Manage and maintain the Town’s web map, including both internal and public facing portals
  • Maintain utility cadastral and provide operations teams with updated maps
  • Create new workflows, requests, and processes in CityWorks to continue its adoption within the organization
  • Develop and update systems for capturing changes, correcting discrepancies, updating data and auditing accuracy of asset data. 


Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Technology diploma or an applied degree in GIS or CAD.
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS, MS Office Suite and database management.
  • Knowledge of GIS, cartographic concepts, design, layout and mapping practices.
  • Ability to interpret Engineering drawings.
  • Strong, confident, and clear communication abilities in both written and spoken English.
  • Hold Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check.


Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1-3 years experience in GIS or asset management.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and asset capture within a GIS.
  • Ability to write technical reports, project correspondence.
  • Experience with an Emergency Management System is an asset.
  • Attention to detail, problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and focus on customer service excellence.

Full Time • Permanent Employment
Salary:  $73,936—$92,846
Hours:  Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
