Majestic mountains, the rugged West Coast Trail, serene lakes, and one of the world’s tallest free-standing timber rail trestles all lie in the picturesque Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD). Located on Vancouver Island, the CVRD provides a wide range of local government services to a population of 80,000 within its 4 distinct municipalities and 9 electoral areas. Just 50 km north of Victoria and 30 km south of Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley offers a warm climate and numerous parks, recreational, cultural, and social opportunities.

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for the regular full-time Senior Corporate Records Analyst position in the Legislative Services Division within the Corporate Services Department.

General Information
Reporting to the Manager - Corporate Records, the Senior Corporate Records Analyst is responsible for advanced advisory and analytical work supporting the Corporate Records Management (RM) program for the CVRD. The Senior Corporate Records Analyst assists with reviewing records systems to determine their needs and requirements and coordinates the implementation and maintenance of solutions and systems to meet the requirements and objectives of the RM program.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Library and Information Studies, Information Management, Archival Studies, Records Management, or a related field
  • An equivalent combination of education, training (such as certifications recognized by the Association of Records Managers and Administrators), and experience may be considered
  • Certification as a Certified Records Analyst (CRA) (or working towards certification) obtained through the Institute of Certified Records Managers
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with progressive responsibility in similar roles and experience in records management with a focus on records analysis, preferably in a local government environment
  • Experience designing and implementing databases is preferred
  • Experience managing records within an electronic document records management system is considered an asset
  • Supervisory experience is an asset

Hours of Work: Guaranteed 35 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and eligible for flex time. This position may be required to attend some evening and weekend meetings.
 
Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the CVRD has a Work From Home program. This program allows staff to work remotely, with the number of remote days per week determined by operational requirements, from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a CVRD worksite. This position works from the CVRD's main office in Duncan, BC, and at this time, is eligible to be part of the Work From Home program, potentially working a hybrid in-office / remote schedule after a successful in-office training period.

Salary: Wage rate in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $47.26 - $48.68 - $50.07 per hour (2024 rates). Benefits are included as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
