Truck Driver 2 – Winter Operations

Scope:
The City of Surrey has an excellent auxiliary opportunity for experienced Truck Drivers. These positions are responsible for driving, operating and light servicing of a tandem axle dump truck with seasonal attachments and performing winter maintenance. Tasks can include, but not limited too, plowing and salting, brine application and route patrolling.

Responsibilities:
- Loading, transporting and unloading materials, tools and equipment under varying traffic and road conditions.
- Completing pre-trip/post trip inspection of equipment including checking oil, fuel levels, tires, lights, lubricating and safety operations.
- Using various truck attachments such as plow, salt spreader and brine tank.
- Keeping records of fuel levels, material usage and mileage. Assisting crew members in performing their duties.
- Drive a tandem axle dump truck, including winter maintenance equipment, such as snow plough, salt spreader, and brine unit.
- Completing set winter maintenance routes
Qualifications:
- Completed Grade 12 or GED
- Have previous experience driving and operating experience on air brake equipped trucks.
- Possess a valid full Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement, safe driving record
In addition, our preferred candidates will have:
- Experience with driving a manual transmission.
- Experience with winter maintenance operations
Other Information
Hourly Rate: $36.07/hour
Working on rotating shifts, dayshift and night shift including weekends and statutory holidays. You will have open availability for short-term callouts and be available on statutory holidays and at peak times.
The duration of the position will be from November 2024 to March 2025.
