The City of Kelowna currently has an opportunity for a Design Technician with our Utility Planning team. With your civil engineering degree or technology diploma, related experience and relevant professional skills you will be responsible for the planning, budgeting, and project management of many of the City’s projects. Typical planning projects consist of preliminary designs, strategic plans and master planning for water, storm drainage and wastewater systems. The successful incumbent will be responsible for water, storm and/or sewer modeling for the City utilities. This position liaises with City development planning, consultants, contractors, affected external stakeholders and various City departments on all aspects of projects and resourcing planning.
Applicants should demonstrate experience in:
- Project management or construction experience
- Design and network software experience with sewer, storm and/or water systems
- Critical thinking
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

This is a CUPE bargaining unit position with a rate of $47.75 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits, vacation and statutory holidays. The position has a term of 2 years with the possibility of extension.
