Senior Administrative Officer

The Hamlet of Kinngait (formerly Cape Dorset), is an Inuit hamlet located on Dorset Island near Fox Peninsula at the southern tip of Baffin Island. There are approximately 1,600 residents in the community. It is world famous for its Inuit art, both carvings and prints.
 
The Hamlet has an immediate opening for a Senior Administrative Officer. Reporting to the Mayor and Council, the Senior Administrative Officer is the most senior municipal government position directing all municipal operations in the community, ensuring the efficient running of Council business, and fulfilling all the statutory obligations of the Senior Administrative Officer outlined in legislation. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to mentor an Assistant Senior Administrative Officer to assume the duties of the Senior Administrative Officer position.
 
The incumbent will be a seasoned manager with extensive management experience, preferably in municipal government settings.
 
A comprehensive pay and benefits package including an attractive salary, Northern Allowance, group pension and insurance plans, highly subsidized staff housing, vacation travel assistance and relocation assistance is available for this position. The position will be offered on a one-year term basis, with an extension if further mentoring of the Assistant is still required.
