Utilities Superintendent
The Resort Municipality of Osoyoos, BC, located in the beautiful south Okanagan Valley, is accepting applications for the position of Utilities Superintendent.
Position Information
This full-time, exempt management position reports to the Director of Operational Services and coordinates and optimizes the operation and maintenance of the Town’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The Utilities Superintendent ensures that the Department’s Water/Wastewater operators are adequately trained and supervised for regulatory compliance. The Utilities Superintendent will take on the role of Chief Operator for the Town’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems and will lead the Utilities Department.
The Town is looking for an EOCP Water Distribution Level II or III, Wastewater Collection Level II, Water Treatment Level II, and a Wastewater Treatment Level 1 operator but would consider an Undergraduate degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or a diploma in Civil or related Engineering Technology an asset. You will also have 5-10 years of related experience with the operation and maintenance of a water distribution and wastewater collection system and 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory position related to water and wastewater. Sound knowledge of computer-related systems such as GIS and SCADA software would be beneficial. A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and a clean driving record are also required.
The Utilities Superintendent would provide an excellent opportunity to encourage growth, leadership, and mentorship for the right candidate. With a growing operator group to manage, the superintendent must balance budget, training, and O&M requirements while still providing service levels to users.
