Manager of City Development

(Full-Time Permanent)

(Salary Range $119,952 - $137,700 per year)

The City of Powell River is seeking a senior planning professional to join our team as the Manager of City Development to implement land development initiatives aimed at improving housing affordability, economic diversification, financial resiliency and community wellbeing. 
 
Key responsibilities include encouraging affordable housing solutions, guiding and supporting them through to planning and construction phases; facilitating and negotiating partnership agreements with public and private entities that support the City’s development priorities; and preparing reports, funding applications and recommendations for funding approval through a range of programs and initiatives.  You will also be involved in developing, implementing and overseeing project-related scope of work, schedules, and budgets, managing contracts to ensure design and construction standards are met and, as required, developing and executing feasibility studies and technical reports in support of various housing initiatives and other development activities. 
 
There is significant emphasis on collaboration and coordination with community stakeholders, elected officials, representatives from other levels of government, consultants, funding agencies, and contractors.
 
Ideally, you hold a Master’s degree in a Planning discipline or related field with ten years of progressively responsible experience in a local government setting. Recent and significant professional experience in affordable housing policy preparation, development design, financing, implementation, and delivery is critical.
 
This is a full-time permanent position with annual salary range of $119,952 - $137,700.  We offer a competitive benefit package that is wholly paid for by the employer and a superior pension plan.  Employees have unlimited access to the Recreation Complex gym/swim/skate facilities during public hours, as well as unlimited drop-in fitness classes.  Financial support for relocation is available.
