About this Opportunity
Sensisyusten House of Learning is a Group 2 Independent Elementary School within the B.C. Ministry of Education. The school follows current B.C. curriculum with an integration of Okanagan/Syilx perspectives in regards to the Seven Teachings: humility, honesty, bravery, respect, love, truth and wisdom.

Under the supervision of the principal, and the guidance of the classroom and learning assistance teachers, the Certified Education Assistant provides assistance to students.

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of individual educational program goals and strategies
  • Assist classroom teachers in the education and/or training of students with special needs including learning, emotional, and/or physical challenges on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or with the whole class
  • Assist teachers in maintaining records and progress reports of students’ IEP and IBP
  • Assist teachers to present a safe learning classroom environment
  • Assist in the supervision of students during classroom periods, playground sessions, lunch breaks, physical education/gym sessions, field trips, etc., as required
  • Modify and prepares specialized teaching aids and materials for students under the direction of the teacher


Must Haves:

  • Certified Education Assistant certificate or BC Teaching certificate
  • Experience working with school-aged children (minimum two years, desirable)
  • Valid First Aid Certification with CPR Level B or C endorsement
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search with results acceptable to WFN
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License preferred

The median starting salary for this position is $55,660
