ABOUT THE JOB
If you are passionate about aquatics and looking for a great place to work, North Vancouver Recreation and Culture wants you! We are currently looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to provide swimming lessons and lifeguarding duties at any of our four pool locations.

ABOUT YOU
You are a team player committed to community. You are courteous and effective with the public and enjoy working with a diverse group of people. You ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for our customers by providing swimming lessons and lifeguarding. Your strong communication skills will help you when instructing aquatic programs to all ages and special community groups. You are able to provide safety supervision for all swimmers and first aid when required. Your responsibilities also include monitoring pool chemistry and ensuring that pool areas and change rooms are kept clean.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Current Standard First Aid
  • Current CPR-C
  • National Lifeguard Pool Option (NLP) current within two (2) years
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor current within two (2) years
  • Lifesaving Instructor (LSI), must complete within 6 months of hiring
  • Swim Instructor Update with High Five, formerly I Can Swim Teacher Certification (ICS), must complete within 6 months of hiring
  • Ability to work two shifts per week preferred


This is an auxiliary position with varying hours including days, evenings and weekends. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position and must be prepared to work at any of our facilities.
 
HOURLY RATES: The hourly pay rate for this unionized position ranges from $27.30 - $31.97 per hour (2024 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
