Majestic mountains, the rugged West Coast Trail, serene lakes, and one of the world’s tallest free-standing timber rail trestles all lie in the picturesque Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD). Located on Vancouver Island, the CVRD provides a wide range of local government services to a population of 80,000 within its 4 distinct municipalities and 9 electoral areas. Just 50 km north of Victoria and 30 km south of Nanaimo, the Cowichan Valley offers a warm climate and numerous parks, recreational, cultural, and social opportunities.

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for a regular part time Rink Supervisor position at the Kerry Park Recreation Centre in the South Cowichan Recreation Division within the Community Services Department.

General Information
Reporting to the Programs & Marketing Coordinator or designate and supervised by recreation programming staff, the Rink Supervisor oversees the operation and supervision of arena recreation activities and programming, private rentals and special events.

Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to those that have completed Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience working in a recreation type environment.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • First Aid Certificate with Child CPR
  • Class 5 BC Driver’s License would be an asset
  • WHMIS Certificate– provided by the employer

Hours of Work: Guaranteed 20 hours of work per week, which are scheduled based on operational need and will be required to work a flexible variety of shifts including days & evenings on weekdays, weekends, statutory holidays, and school professional development days.

Salary: This non-union position has a wage range in three steps, $22.75 - $23.94 - $25.18 per hour (2024 rates), plus 5.2% in lieu of statutory holidays, as per the Non-Union Wage Scale. Benefits are also included as part of this position.
