Permanent Full-time Vacancy - Planner
The District of Lake Country is seeking a permanent full-time Planner to join the Planning & Development team. The Planner provides research, analytical, report writing, presentation services respecting policy development, land use planning projects, and land use applications.
The Planner position works in a fast-paced environment and exhibits a high degree of professional responsibility in the development and implementation of planning strategies, statutory documents, and municipal policy. The position also requires thorough knowledge of related Acts and Regulations and the planning process in British Columbia. The Planner works collaboratively with District staff to make submissions to Council and other affected public and private agencies, and with committees and above named groups respecting land use in the community.
The successful candidate will have completed a minimum of a university degree in Planning or a degree in a related discipline and membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of BC and/or the Canadian Institute of Planners. A minimum of three years’ related experience in planning, with preference given to relevant experience in municipal government. A valid British Columbia Driver’s License and ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.
The normal work week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday. The hourly rate of pay for this unionized position is $42.88 (2023 wage rate) plus a comprehensive benefits package, including wellness time, vacation, and pension. A probation rate of 90% applies to the six-month probation period.
