Mission is located on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:lō Peoples, specifically on Leq’á:mel, Semá:th, Máthexwi, Kwantlen, Sq’éwlets, and Katzie traditional territories in the lower mainland of BC. Nestled on the southern coastal mountain slopes overlooking the lush Fraser River Valley, Mission is a rapidly growing and dynamic community of approximately 41,000 residents, 20 kilometers north of the US border and 70 kilometers east of Vancouver. Although Mission is part of a broader metropolitan area, it still maintains its distinct and welcoming small-town flavor.

Job Description
The City of Mission’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Department is seeking energetic and motivated individuals with excellent interpersonal and communications skills to fill part-time and auxiliary Aquatic Guard I positions.

You will be responsible for guarding duties, teaching Swim for Life lessons and performing maintenance duties in the pool area. Aquatic Guards must enjoy interacting with children and adults and be able to effectively deal with disruptive behavior.

Qualifications
The successful candidates will be at least 16 years of age and hold current NLS, CPR and Swim for Life Instructor certifications.
In order to be considered for employment as an Aquatic Guard I, candidates must be available to participate in a wet exam on to be determined date. 

Additional Information
The 2023 rate of pay for this CUPE position is $27.34 per hour plus a percentage in lieu of all benefits. Aquatic Guards must be available for shifts between the hours of 5:15 am and 10:00 pm including evenings, weekends and some statutory holidays.
