We are looking for a Senior Manager, Engineering Business Operations to fill an essential role in our dynamic Engineering team.

Reporting to the Engineering General Manager, you will be accountable for coordinating, organizing and advising the Department on all components of business operations for the Engineering Department. You will take on a leadership role and oversee functional divisions responsible for Engineering Budgets, Administration and Business Process Improvement. You will help review Engineering fees, propose funding strategies for the Engineering capital and operating budget, develop business strategies, implementing long range and business planning processes, implementing performance management framework to define service and operating levels, developing key performance indicators, service metrics and reports on department performance in accordance to approved plans. While proactively managing the department budgets, you provide a liaison function to represent the Engineering Department on corporate initiatives and projects, you will take the lead for ongoing management and oversight of a portfolio of strategic projects and programs, and execute projects through a combination of direct reports and seconded team members assigned to projects. You will prepare and presents reports for Council on a variety of department matters and assist with policy recommendations. Further, you will represent the department at grievance hearings, arbitrations and labour management meetings. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include a University Degree at Bachelor’s level with a specialization in business management plus 10 to 15 years of experience in a comparable organization, preferably Engineering at a managerial level and CPA designation or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. This role requires considerable leadership skills, organizational, conceptual and analytical skills, coaching and facilitation skills, research, knowledge of computer software applications, writing and presentation skills. You will have the ability to develop solutions to business problems based on strategic and analytical problem solving; establish priorities, set and meet goals and to accomplish objectives; organize and manage a variety of competing deadlines within time and budget constraints; foster the development of management practices which focus on continuous improvement in the activities of the department and establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, employees, unions, elected officials and a variety of outside agencies. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
