Engineering Traffic Technician


Position Overview
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Engineering Traffic Technician. Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, Transportation, the Engineering Traffic Technician is responsible for conducting field investigations, gathering data, reviewing transportation-related permits, and providing support to other staff within the department. This position is technical in nature and involves all aspects of street and traffic planning, operations, and management. 
 
Qualifications

Applicants must have a diploma in Traffic Engineering or related field and a minimum of 6 months’ related experience in a municipal engineering environment with direct experience in field data collection, front line customer service, and technical reviews and reporting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Applicants must have a membership in, or eligibility for membership in applicable professional designation. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is required.

Additional Information
This is a unionized position.  $38.49 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2023 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week. Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful applicant. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan. Shortlisted applicants may be required to undergo a criminal record check and/or a verification of their education credentials.
