Oak Bay is a picturesque seaside community located within the Greater Victoria Region, with a population of +18,000. While offering all the amenities of a large metropolitan urban centre, Oak Bay has succeeded in maintaining all the peacefulness and charm of a small town. The Community Building & Planning Services Department is excited to be seeking a talented and experienced administrative professional to join their collaborative team. The role offers self-directed and varied work, which includes interfacing with the public, assisting a group of professional planners, and providing support to an advisory committee. If you have an interest in housing, architecture, and/or design and want to contribute to our busy yet relaxed work environment, we welcome your application!
Our ideal candidate has graduated secondary school with five years of recent related experience in administrative support. Two years of experience in local government or experience related to the role’s planning/building/licensing responsibilities are considered desirable (If you don’t have planning experience, don’t worry – the team is willing to support you as you learn and grow!). This position is represented by CUPE Local 374.
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a supportive and collaborative work environment, continued career and professional development opportunities, employee engagement events, work-life balance, and a staff membership to the weightroom, fitness classes, skating and pool.
