Position Overview
The Sunshine Coast Regional District is currently inviting applications for the position of Service Person/Transit Assistant. We are looking for an experienced and friendly person to join our team! The Service Person/Transit Assistant works under the general supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and the day-to-day work direction of mechanics on duty. This position cleans, washes, and performs pre-trip inspections Transit buses, performs routine servicing and maintenance tasks on Transit and other fleet vehicles, maintains the repair shop and grounds of the Mason Road site in an orderly and safe condition, and performs cleaning, maintenance and installation work on bus stops and shelters. At times, this role may also need to act as a Transit Operator, and may require a valid Class 2 license, recent Driver’s Abstract, and a Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment, all of which can be discussed further as part of the interview process.
Compensation and Hours of Work
This is a bargaining unit position with a wage rate of $28.88 per hour, generally working 28 hours per week. Annual vacation starts at two weeks (4%), increasing to three weeks (6%) after a four-month probationary period, and includes 13 paid statutory holidays (after 30 days of employment). After passing probation, you will then receive a full benefit package that includes extended health and dental coverage, paid sick leave, family responsibility leave, eyewear, eye exams, group life insurance, short-term and long-term disability benefits, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, and participation in the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP). And finally, all SCRD employees have access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) upon hire, for free, confidential counselling services.
