The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Senior Transportation Engineer to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Transportation Department. Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Engineering, in this Exempt position you will be responsible for all modes of transportation as it relates to transportation engineering and planning, including the development of a transportation and Mobility Strategy. This will include addressing access and mobility, transportation choices, affordability, community and environmental issues and supports the Township’s Climate Action Strategy (CAS). Working with other departments, municipalities and government agencies, citizen groups and the public, this position requires an important level of leadership, and innovation. The Senior Transportation Engineer will review the design of transportation projects. You will assist in Township and neighbourhood transportation preparation requirements, and all aspects of matters affecting the flow and safety of traffic in the municipality.
Your education will include a degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Transportation plus a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in Transportation Engineering with progressively more responsible project management and at least 2 to 5 years of work experience at the municipal level; preferably supplemented by supervisory experience. An advanced degree in engineering or business administration or the equivalent combination of education and experience is considered an asset.
In this role you will have experience communicating and coordinating with other organizational units in the Municipality to discuss means of mitigating project traffic impacts resulting from new developments. etc. liaises with adjacent municipalities other agencies. The successful candidate will prepare Council memos and reports on a variety of transportation issues and attend/make presentations at Council meetings as needed. You will prepare long range transportation plans and reviews, analyzes reports on transportation plans prepared by other agencies which affect the Municipality. In this position, you will supervise unionized and contract workers with responsibility for the recruitment, selection, training and evaluation.

- Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia
An excellent benefit package is offered with this Exempt position and the hourly rate range is $71.27 - $80.16 (2023 rates), based on 37.5 hours per week.
