We have an opening for one or more experienced Building Inspectors to join our team on a casual, on- call basis. Successful candidates will have a diploma in building or civil technology, have BOABC Building and Plumbing Inspector Level 3 certification, be a member of BOABC in good standing and have a valid Class 5 BC driver’s license along with an appropriate vehicle for business use. A minimum of five years of experience as a Building Inspector in a local government setting is required. This opportunity may appeal to individuals who have recently retired from the field of building inspection or for those in the process of transitioning from related industries, provided they possess the necessary qualifications and expertise.
You possess expert knowledge of all codes, acts, standards, regulations and requirements governing the construction industry in BC, as well as knowledge of zoning bylaws, OCPs and other land use regulations. You have the ability to effectively deal with contractors, architects, developers, engineers and other professionals on technical matters. You are physically fit and able to work in conditions typical of a construction worksite.
Reporting to the Chief Building Inspector, Building Inspectors are responsible for regulatory enforcement and administration of the BC building and plumbing codes, RDNO and municipal building bylaws, as well as other applicable RDNO bylaws.

The wage range for a Building Inspector III is $44.14 to $50.75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus 16% in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays, and all other benefits.
