This is technical, clerical and graphic design work in the gathering and preparation of diverse information relative to a variety of municipal planning matters. The incumbent is part of a team working on the Housing Choices program, heritage planning, zoning policy and other long range planning projects. The incumbent researches, collects, analyzes and reports to a supervisor on a range of planning issues; performs skilled drafting assignments in the preparation of maps, drawings and graphic presentations to illustrate reports and to facilitate the presentation of planning information; interacts with the public at community engagement events; assembles a variety of data from available sources to assist professional staff in their reply to specific requests for information and in their preparation of reports dealing with a wide range of planning matters; provides a variety of detailed technical information and assistance to the public and other municipal staff on matters related to the work performed; refers more complex or specialized inquiries to professional staff; conducts site investigations and field surveys to facilitate the preparation of statistical and graphic presentations. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of grade 12 supplemented by technical courses plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the bylaws, department policies, practices and procedures governing the work performed. Sound knowledge of graphic presentation methods and techniques applicable to municipal planning work.
