District Food Coordinator

(EXEMPT – FULL-TIME)
 
Located on the ancestral, unceded territory of the syilx nation, in the heart of the beautiful North Okanagan, School District No. 22 (Vernon) provides quality educational programs and a safe learning environment for the over 8,700 diverse students within its 19 schools. 600 teachers, 420 support staff, and 60 management staff work together towards the success of our students.
 
We have an opening for the full-time – exempt position of District Food Coordinator. The successful candidate will have a degree in program administration and management, population health nutrition, sustainable food systems and/or a related field, familiarity with existing school food networks, food procurement and other relevant policies, experience advancing sustainable regional food systems and excellent networking, engagement, facilitation, and negotiation skills. Candidates with a demonstrated understanding of cultural context and perspectives and/or have completed cultural competency training that centres equity, diversity and inclusion perspectives will be considered an asset.
 
Reporting to the Director of Instruction, Inclusive Education, the District Food Coordinator oversees the logistics of food deliveries to schools and ensures a coordinated approach to improving food services and obtains information on schools’ food programs and their effectiveness. This position will provide a single point of contact for food service staff, administrators, and partners through which to coordinate any food related initiatives.
