We are currently recruiting for a regular full-time Engineering Inspector 3 to join our Capital Projects and Inspections team in our Engineering and Public Works department. This position will be responsible for ensuring that work performed by contractors on major arterial road reconstruction projects conforms to and complies with specified City regulations, standards, contracts, specifications and related requirements. In addition, the work involves processing payment and progress reports, performing tests on specified construction materials, initiating Force Account Work Orders as required and preparing and maintaining a variety of reports, records and correspondence related to the work. Considerable independent judgement and action are exercised in processing day-to-day inspectional and regulatory work. Use of a personal vehicle for business purposes may be required.
 
The successful candidate will be confident with communicating with contractors and working with residents to address emerging issues in a responsive manner while exercising independent judgement on a daily basis. Sound progressive experience in related inspectional work is required, complimented by technical courses related to the work. Preference will be given to candidates who have certification as a Public Works Inspector Three. A valid driver’s license for BC is also required.
 
A CUPE hourly rate of $37.12 - $43.82 per hour is being offered, along with a comprehensive benefits package, pension plan and an earned day off program. Applicants under consideration may be required to undergo a police information check (with no adverse reports).
