Our Engineering department is currently hiring for the position of Senior Engineer, Project Management. If you have a background in managing design and contract administration with major capital construction programs, then this may be the position for you! The Senior Engineer, Project Management supports capital plan development by monitoring, overseeing project scope, coordinating, scheduling, budgeting, and finalizing, with a focus on conceptual and preliminary design; prepares terms of reference for design and construction administration proposals, evaluates and recommends consultant selection, approves design and draft work; reviews specifications, cost estimates and contract documents. This position is also responsible for assigning work, training and supervising a variety of technical subordinates, participating in the hiring, performance evaluation and vacation approval of staff. Duties may also include leading contract dispute resolution. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include a University degree in Engineering, a Professional Engineering designation (P. Eng) and a minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. This role requires thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations and policies governing departmental operations and work performed; Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) guidelines and standards. The role also requires the ability to assign, supervise and review the work of subordinates; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts; work independently and within a team environment; problem solve; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish priorities and accomplish objectives in a timely manner; lead contract dispute resolutions. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Project Management software is also required. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
