We are excited to recruit for the position of Manager, Community Services! Cochrane is planning for the future needs of our growing community today, ensuring that our built environment can facilitate our Strategic Plan. Our vibrant, bold and charming community requires recreation amenities, interconnected pathway systems, transportation networks, and new or expanded facilities.
 
The Manager, Community Services has the opportunity to connect our community by developing strategies to close gaps in Cochrane’s recreation, arts and culture programs. You will develop and maintain partnerships and work collaboratively with community organizations, committees and groups, through intentional connection, public engagement, community events and active community participation. This includes the management and oversight of community diversity and inclusivity between community groups, stakeholders and the Municipality. You will also manage Cochrane’s multi-modal contracts, seeking innovative and affordable multi-modal transportation opportunities, including COLT (Cochrane On-Demand Local Transit) Service.
 
This position will consult with community stakeholders to develop or manage community recreation, arts, and culture in Cochrane. They will connect issues management and build systems to lead a team of diverse, passionate employees seeking opportunities to respond to the growth of our municipality while aligning with the strategic vision of the future.
 
You will bring ideas on work activities, direct and guide projects, and seek input from technically competent and knowledgeable stakeholders. You will use excellent communication skills to balance the needs of staff, Council and external community groups and stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality, tact and diplomacy with a variety of competing opinions and priorities. You will ensure that a lens of diversity and inclusion is applied in all aspects of work.
 
The Manager is responsible for the overall operation, planning, coordinating and implementing a wide variety of recreation, culture, arts, and connectivity. They proactively identify and pursue opportunities, and lead collaborative initiatives and relationships with stakeholders, community groups.

The ideal candidate will have proven career progression within a recreation, culture and arts environment. We value self-driven professional development and will be looking for a candidate who has advanced their education and leveraged their experience to ensure technical and human-centered excellence. For this position, a degree or diploma in the areas of Recreation, Culture or Arts would be advantageous.
