Engineering Projects Manager

Permanent Full Time Position

We have an exciting opportunity available for a permanent full-time Engineering Projects Managers, in the Water Resources division. We are seeking a dynamic intermediate level engineer looking for their next career challenge. This role is about managing a portfolio of work through a team of technical people; mentoring others to complete detailed engineering designs and to become excellent projects managers; and working closely with internal construction crews and external general contractors to maintain strong essential services in the community and achieve corporate goals.
 
This position reports to the Manager of Infrastructure and Design and will be responsible for leading a team of unionized technicians in the design and delivery of a portfolio of infrastructure priorities assigned from the annual 5-year capital budget, from preliminary design to final project close out. In addition, this position acts as Engineer of Record for designs prepared under their direct supervision and under the District’s Permit to Practice requirements.
 
Qualified candidates have a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering or a related discipline/field; membership as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC), and six (6) years of progressive experience in a related position with a focus on capital project management, design, and construction of civil/municipal infrastructure for water, sewer and drainage systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. PMP or pursuit of such would be considered an asset. Knowledge and experience in trenchless technologies would also be considered an asset.
 
In addition, candidates must also have professional knowledge and diverse experience in the principles, methods and techniques applicable to civil/municipal infrastructure design and construction, specifically in retrofit environments; demonstrated ability to successfully lead teams in the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously ensuring strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders; demonstrated ability in applying engineering best practices in the review of reports and plans prepared by Professional Engineers to ensure project outcomes achieved; and excellent leadership and project management skills.
