This is recreational leadership work at Bonsor 55+ Centre. The position includes program leadership and development, volunteer leadership, staff supervision, site supervision, publicity and promotion, and community development. Administrative requirements include program development, planning and input, monitoring of related cost centres, assistance with planning, and preparation of various correspondence and reports. The Recreation Leader 2 assumes responsibility for the operation and security of the facility; participates in the recruitment, hiring and orientation of contract and auxiliary staff; enforces rules and regulations and ensures that required standards of behaviour and safety are maintained in the facility. Works in partnership and liaises with the Bonsor 55+ Board of Directors, volunteers and members. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include Completion of a two-year Community Recreation program from a recognized Community College and some related experience. Sound knowledge of organized community recreation principles and practices. Working knowledge of sports, crafts, arts and other pursuits related to various recreational, social and cultural programs of seniors 55+. Ability to plan, initiate, coordinate, and lead various programs for older adults. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractual instructors, volunteers, groups, associations, and the general public; to recruit, instruct, evaluate, train, direct and supervise part-time recreational staff, contractual instructors, and volunteers; to prepare and maintain records, reports and promotional material related to the work. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
