We are looking for energetic and people-orientated individuals to join our team as Food Service Attendants (Baristas) at a newly renovated high-end coffee shop. You’re a friendly, enthusiastic person who understands that a cheerful greeting and a well-made cup of coffee can brighten a person’s day. Along with your skill with manual espresso machines, you are well-versed in different varieties of coffee, and your personality shines with the City of Burnaby’s values of community, integrity, respect, innovation, and passion. Your responsibilities include preparing and selling a limited selection of food and beverage items, making and pouring specialty beverages with latte art, operating manual espresso machines, operating a cash register, receiving and balancing cash, maintaining cleanliness of the coffee shop and bar, and, most importantly, providing exceptional service. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation plus some related food and beverage experience, as well as, Food Safe and Serving it Right Certificates. You are knowledgeable with related health regulations, are able to perform routine maintenance on equipment, and can keep a clean working environment that you and your patrons can be proud of. You take pride in your work, whether it’s being attentive at each stage of the espresso-making process, ably handling a coffee rush, and operating the till with accuracy and efficiency, and you always ensure patrons feel welcome. You love coffee, you connect with people, and you care about your community. The ability to work opening/morning shifts is preferred.

Pay Rate: $20.76 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits (2023 Rates)
