SCOPE
Reporting to the Business Improvement Manager, the Senior Business Systems Analyst (FAA3) works under general direction to provide functional application support for the AMANDA system and other business dependent applications to ensure it meets the operational needs of the department. The incumbent considers the business implications of applying information technology within the functional areas, and, through research and fact finding, combined with an understanding of business systems, participates in formulating the scope and objectives of initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for ongoing business operations and completion of complex work assignments, as delegated.
- As the primary source of contact, responds to, investigates, prioritizes and resolves integrated administrative, technical, or operating problems within the functional end user base using standard methodologies and procedures, interpreting or adapting as situations and problems arise.
- Develops training material for end users and ensures that end user system documentation is appropriate and complete.
- Provides ongoing support and training to all end users, including management staff in the use of analytical tools, through training programs, one-on-one consultation, systems or procedural advice etc.
- Assumes key role in the future development of the system by participating in development of business cases, taking business unit leadership role in needs identification, defining requirements, assisting with development of work break down structure and project plans, and assumes key business unit role in testing and implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree in an acceptable related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution, plus 4 years of directly related and relevant experience, preferably in a municipal setting; OR
- A Diploma in an acceptable related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution, plus 6 years of directly related and relevant experience, preferably in a municipal setting; OR
- Technical courses in the field plus 8 years of directly related and relevant experience, preferably in a municipal setting.
Shortlisted applicants will be able to demonstrate the following knowledges, skills and abilities:
- Advanced skills in, and knowledge of the AMANDA application, business reporting tools, and other applicable technologies (e.g. MobilePal; PL/SQL; PowerBI; Bluebeam Revu; ).
- Excellent presentation skills to be able to effectively present recommendations and preferred alternatives and to train end-users in the AMANDA application.
- Ability to work in a strategic and proactive manner to perform under pressure, and meet deadlines established according to corporate priorities.
- Self-motivation, ability to work independently and efficiently with strong service orientation.
- Thorough business knowledge of functional area of expertise and cross-departmental relationships.
