To ensure we deliver exceptional results to our residents and other stakeholders, we are recruiting for a senior staff member to become a key member of our Corporate Leadership Team. We are seeking a dynamic individual with a team-oriented leadership style, outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, strong technical ability and extensive local government experience.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position will lead and manage a diverse team of professional and support staff whose key responsibilities include development planning, building, bylaw enforcement, environmental protection, agricultural protection, housing, social planning and economic development. You will have input into hiring and overseeing work performed by staff, and consultants, and ensuring adherence to quality control standards.

This position provides key advice to the CAO, Council and other bodies and must be comfortable making Council presentations. Supporting the direction of the city, the Director will prepare short and long term operation and capital budgets and business plans, act as the City Approving Officer, and ensure the city meets all standards required by various levels of government and other regulatory bodies. Excellent interpersonal skills will be essential to develop and maintain productive working relationships with various counterparts including the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation.

Preferred candidates will possess an equivalent to a Bachelor degree in urban planning, public administration, business administration, urban geography or a related discipline. Eligibility for MCIP designation with the Canadian Institute of Planners and an RPP designation with the Planning Institute of BC is preferred, along with progressive responsibilities and broad related experience, including five years of progressive supervisory responsibly within a municipal setting and in a variety of functional areas.
