Cypress County is a rural municipality in the southeast corner of Alberta. The majority of the County’s 1.3 million hectares are utilized for agricultural purposes, including high intensity irrigated cropping. The County’s over 7,800 residents live on farms, acreage subdivisions and in 10 small urban communities. Cypress County offers a relaxed rural lifestyle and a safe community for families. Along with the City of Medicine Hat and Cypress Hills Provincial Park, this area is a great place to live and work.
Due to a retirement we have an exciting opportunity. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Municipal Services is a member of the senior management team. Working with the CAO and other Directors you will help to ensure the consistent application of Council’s goals and objectives.
You will be leading a group of professionals responsible for agriculture, emergency services, health and safety, planning, community and culture. You bring exemplary leadership and strong relationship skills. You have a successful track record in progressive management roles and are able to deal with conflict situations while still maintaining productive and professional relationships. You have a passion for public service and are able to adapt to the ever-changing needs of the community.
You possess a Certificate in Local Government Administration along with a university degree in a related field. You bring seven years of related and progressive management experience, preferably in a Local Government setting. You have a high degree of personal initiative, integrity, and professionalism. You utilize your leadership skills to coach, mentor and motivate and empower staff. You have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and are committed to continuous improvement.
