Job Position Summary:
Posting is for a full-time permanent job with flex hours of 32- 40 hours per week, with overtime/on-call weekend shifts.

The successful candidate would have a EOCP Water Distribution Level II Certification or be willing to work and train with us towards this level.

The responsibilities include :
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance, cleaning, repairs, inspection of water and wastewater systems and equipment, including collecting and transporting water quality samples.
  • Testing and analyzing water quality for chlorine residual, turbidity and other parameters; familiarity with UV systems is an asset.
  • Interpreting data from instrumentation and alarms; analyzing, calibrating, and troubleshooting problems, developing and implementing solutions
  • Monitoring and adjusting disinfection systems, including use of the SCADA and chlorine handling.
  • Participating in record keeping of the water systems performance, including operational records, readings, maps, and shift logs.
  • Safety-consciousness- demonstrating commitment to safe work practices, ensuring all tasks are carried out in compliance of the current rules, regulations and standards governing water supply, treatment and distribution.
  • Responding to emergency call outs/ stand by as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot complex problems
  • Positive minded, team player and solid work ethic
  • Completion of Grade 12 High School Diploma
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license; must be able to provide driver's abstract showing a clean driving record
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a water treatment or distribution role or equivalent
  • EOCP Certified Water Distribution Level I minimum, or AWWOA equivalent
  • Ability to pass and maintain a criminal record check
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and sketch maps

  • The ideal candidate must be willing to reside in the Salmon Arm/ Blind Bay/ Sorrento area.
  • A competitive industry wage will be offered based on the experience and certification level of the qualified employee- with a range between $25-$39/hour.

  • Job environment requires physical agility and the ability to handle multi-tasking, frequent interruptions, deadlines, and a variety of weather conditions and equipment.
  • The successful candidate must show a willingness to learn and remain current in the water industry, and participate in offered educational and safety training courses.
  • Water Treatment and/or Wastewater tickets are also an asset, as well as Red Seal certifications in other trades.
  • **The municipalities within the Columbia Regional Shuswap District have a COVID-19 Vaccination Policy that requires all employees to be fully vaccinated as a condition of hire and continued employment.
