The Economic Development Division in the Community and Partner Engagement department is looking for a temporary full time Clerk III to join their Business Licensing team until approximately October 2023.
This role in the Business Licensing team provides an opportunity to work directly with our business community and provide an efficient, customer-service oriented approach to providing critical business services. You will primarily be responsible for screening new license applications for zoning designations, engaging with business owners to provide information and advice on processes and solutions related to the issuance and renewal of business licenses, as well as assisting in obtaining missing or unclear commercial information. You will also contact business owners to collect unpaid licenses, explain rules, regulations and general policy and determine claims, deductions, adjustments, complaints and related items and problems. You will also work to resolve issues with escalated inquiries if web-based services are not sufficient.
You will have completed courses in a related discipline, with considerable related work experience. Strong administrative and organizational skills are required, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. Thorough knowledge of related bylaws, acts, and regulations would be an asset. You will have strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook), keyboarding skills at a minimum net speed of 40 wpm as well as excellent communication and customer service skills.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
$28.56 to $33.56 per hour
(Pay Grade 17 – January 2021 rates)
Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
