FACILITIES MAINTENANCE WORKER II(Permanent Full-Time)

The District of West Vancouver, Facilities and Assets Department requires the services of a permanent full-time Facilities Maintenance Worker II. Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Maintenance, this position performs maintenance, cleaning and custodial tasks in Community Services facilities. This position is responsible for supervising and scheduling the work of a small group of workers engaged in routine custodial and cleaning duties. Maintenance tasks are varied and occasionally major, whereas cleaning duties are routine. Work includes: cleaning, painting, wall repairs, lighting replacement and other related duties required in District facilities. Some plumbing, mechanical and electrical work will also be required.
To be considered, applicants must have: good knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in the painting, plumbing, carpentry and electrical trades as well as general maintenance and janitorial work; good knowledge of the occupational hazards and precautionary measures related to the position; completion of the 12th school grade supplemented by related technical courses at a vocational institute, plus some general experience in the building trade and preferably experience as a Facilities Maintenance Worker I, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; and good written and oral communication skills.
A 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate or 5th Class Refrigeration Engineering Certificate is preferred. Applicants must have a current Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
The successful candidate is required to supply a Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials. All District of West Vancouver employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of hire.

Starting Rate of Pay:
$27.99 per hour
(This position has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.)
