Supervisor of Utilities - Cariboo Regional District



As a result of staff retirement within our organization, we are seeking qualified individuals to apply for the full-time position of Supervisor of Utilities based out of the Cariboo Regional District office in Williams Lake.
SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Manager of Environmental Services, the Supervisor of Utilities will supervise, operate, and maintain regional water and sewer utilities. Supervise supporting staff in the Utilities Department. Report, collect data and maintain work logs as required by the Manager of Environmental Services. Respond to public inquiries, as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant must hold Environmental Operator Certifications that commensurate with the Cariboo Regional District facilities for Wastewater Collection Level II, Water Distribution Level II, and Small Water Systems. Have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in making decisions in the field and in emergency/repair situations. A working knowledge of underground utility systems. The ability to exercise considerable independence of judgement and action in the operation of equipment and during utilities maintenance activities. A minimum of 8 years experience supervising staff. Training and/or experience in confined space and safe work procedures. Proficient with cell phone and computer use specifically MS Office and MS Office 365, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and MS Access an asset. The ability to navigate online meetings using Zoom or MS Teams. Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
WAGE: This is a BCGEU position. The terms of this position include a wage of $43.10 per hour. A standard probation period will apply.
WORK SITE LOCATION: The successful candidate will operate out of the Cariboo Regional District Williams Lake Office located at Suite D, 180 3rd Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC. Travel within the regional district will be required. However, consideration may be given to work out of 100 Mile House.
HOURS OF WORK: The current work schedule for this position will be Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 4:15 pm. This schedule could change, but the successful candidate will be notified in advance of the change. The incumbent will be required to participate in the on-call rotation schedule. Be required to work a non-standard schedule and unexpected overtime to respond to emergencies and participate in the on-call rotation schedule.
