The Municipality of West Grey, Ontario is seeking a robust, hands-on, and dynamic Director, Infrastructure and Public Works, who is accountable for the strategic leadership, administrative management, and overall operations of the department.

Located in Grey County, and serving a population of approximately 13,000+, the Municipality of West Grey is a combination of rural, farm communities, friendly urban centres, and quaint villages.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Infrastructure and Public Works leads a multi-faceted department including transportation infrastructure, engineering, land development, storm water management, public works, water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, fleet management, solid waste management, and municipal facilities.

You will work with dedicated, professional staff, contribute to a collaborative, supportive corporate culture and meet some of the most amazing volunteers and community leaders anywhere.

The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education in Engineering or similar discipline and will be a Registered Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation, in good standing. You must have a minimum five years of progressive supervisory/leadership experience overseeing administration of public works function, including transportation, planning, operations, water supply and distribution, sanitary sewage and treatment, storm water management and land development, preferably in a municipal or public sector environment.

Additionally, you will possess a thorough understanding of the legislation and policies that affect the department, including familiarity with municipal law, insurance, and employee relations.

Experience developing, managing capital and operating budgets. Strong technical knowledge of the Municipal Act, Drainage Act, Public Utilities Act, Highway Traffic Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, Water Resources Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and other applicable legislation is a must.
 
The ideal candidate will have superior leadership, organizational, interpersonal relations, oral and written communication skills and a proven ability to work with council/elected and non-elected officials and staff at all levels.
