The Manager of Recreation at the Town of Canmore will work with Recreation staff and the larger organization to realize this potential. We are looking for someone who can motivate a passionate team and lead by example. The role requires the ability to balance advancing operational priorities while navigating political realities. This leader will thrive in times of change and know how to develop new ways of doing things by bringing diverse people and opinions together to find workable solutions to shared problems.
Reporting to the General Manager of Municipal Services, the Manager of Recreation builds community health and wellness, spirit, and culture by planning, implementing, and managing a broad range of community recreation services for the Town of Canmore. This person oversees community programs and services relating to recreation including the day to day operations of Elevation Place. The Manager will lead and implement strategic objectives to ensure recreation services that are inclusive, cost efficient, and managed within a sustainable service level framework.

This is the perfect hybrid position for someone who possesses both strong people skills and business acumen. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum or 3-5 years previous leadership experience in both managing business operations and team leadership. The position requires someone who strongly values wellness and active living for all. Strong presentation and computer skills are required and previous recreation software experience, specifically Intelligenz software is preferred. In addition, some other requirements include having previous government experience, a post-secondary degree education (recreation, business administration, kinesiology, sports administration, physical education, public administration or equivalent) and certifications in either aquatics and/or fitness sectors are considered an asset.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $111,074.60 to $117,244.40
