The Township of Langley is recruiting on an on-going basis to augment auxiliary positions for Recreation Attendant I / Recreation Cashiers to join our team of professionals in the Recreation division. Reporting to the Manager, Administration and Business Services, and the Business Services Supervisor, in this unionized position you will undertake a variety of clerical tasks and answer a variety of general enquiries regarding activities and services within the community. This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service and assistance to the public and visitors at a variety of municipal facilities throughout the municipality
- Perform routine clerical and facility tasks including operating a point of sale system, recording and reconciling payments
- Open/close and oversee a facility during a regularly scheduled shift
- Perform set-up and minor custodial duties and assume responsibility for security and routine patrol of the facility as required
- Perform related work as required
Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by sound related experience dealing with the public or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public under varying conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with internal and external contacts
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred
This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety). The successful candidate(s) will be required to have a Police Information Check as a condition of employment (Note - not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment).

Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification
External applicants are advised that it is a condition of employment with the Township that a successful candidate provide proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Note: proof is not required as part of the application process, however will be required upon consideration for employment.
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $22.93 - $26.89 per hour (5 steps, 2020 rates) plus 13% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are non-standard hours and/or non-standard work weeks.
