The West Vancouver Community Services Department, in partnership with the West Vancouver Community Centres Society, has an opening for a casual Administrative Assistant for the West Vancouver Community Centres Society for approximately one year.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the West Vancouver Community Centres Society, this position will be responsible for:

  • Providing general administrative support including the preparation of reports, presentations, statistics, correspondence, Board packages, agendas, and meeting minutes
  • Supporting the Executive Director in projects as required
  • Organizing office functions including mail distribution, scheduling, ordering office supplies, filing and maintaining records
  • Coordinating meetings
  • Tracking budgets and expenses on projects
  • Providing communications to internal and external stakeholders

The preferred candidate will possess: proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel; experience with document management systems; the ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work; knowledge of non-profit organizations and its relationships with members and community residents, local government, and the private sector; and the ability to take the initiative and work independently to support the Executive Director and the Society’s Board of Directors as required.

The successful candidate has completed courses in administration support, and possesses at least three years’ experience as an administrative or executive assistant, or combination of education and comprehensive related experience in non-profit, public or private sector administration or business. A BC Driver’s Licence valid for the Province of British Columbia is required.

The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.
Position Status:
Exempt – Casual for approximately one year

Hours of Work:
Approximately 14-20 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
