Applications are invited for the Regular Full-Time position of Engineering Technologist to work in the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department.   Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, the successful applicant will provide technical support and infrastructure capacity analysis, review design submissions, develop conceptual designs of engineering services, perform technical engineering related to the development and administration of the City’s traffic and transportation program, prepare technical reports and assist in establishing programs, policies and procedures relating to operating functions of the department.  The incumbent will plan and conduct traffic studies encompassing traffic movement and control, accident analysis, safety, parking and will prepare and supervisor the traffic count program.  
RATE OF PAY:              
Pay Grade 29:  $41.85 to $44.50 (2019 C.U.P.E. rates)

35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

The incumbent will have considerable knowledge of engineering principles and practices including transportation and traffic.  A Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a field relevant to the position from a recognized institution and at least 5 years’ experience in municipal engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is desired. The incumbent will also have considerable experience in traffic/transportation engineering (e.g., traffic safety, traffic count, software applications such as Synchro, etc.); experience in review of subdivision/development engineering design drawing submissions, drafting preliminary engineering requirements and servicing agreement documents; and preparation and management of contract agreements in traffic and/or development engineering.
Registration or eligibility to be registered with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians Association of B.C. and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License are required.  Details of the position and its requirements can be found in the job description at the following link:
