The Planning & Development Department is seeking a temporary full time Client Service Supervisor to join the team for a two year period in support of Gateway. Gateway is a one stop client service center and front counter with a focus on online services for licenses, planning and permits. Reporting to the Chief Building Official, you will be responsible for supervising and directing the work of the clerical staff in the Building Division, including supporting the City’s Gateway client service center. In this role, you will be responsible for resolving the more complex customer service requests and complaints received through Gateway. You will conduct analyses on the volume and types of inquiries received and, working with your manager, develop and implement new and/or improved office methods and procedures to improve the City’s services, information to clients, increase efficiency and accommodate department requirements. This includes providing training and creating supporting documentation and manuals for the service model delivery changes or improvements. Additionally, you will relieve superiors of administrative detail; track, monitor and update department metrics.
You will have related work experience, supplemented by relevant courses; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will have in depth knowledge of the functions of the City, department, and of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to the work performed as well as the ability to make decisions in accordance with applicable departmental policies and procedures. Strong problem solving, interpersonal and communications skills are required, along with the ability to interact effectively and courteously with the public. You will also have a net keyboarding speed of 50 wpm and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Knowledge of municipal processes for permits, licensing and planning functions are assets.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
For temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
$28.56 to $33.56 per hour (January 2021 rates)
Pay Grade 17
Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
