As a member of our Parks leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of technical and professional staff engaged in developing and executing short and long range parks related planning, design and construction projects, including administration of parks asset management and capital renewal programs. Reporting to the Manager, Parks, you will provide strong strategic leadership, and collaborate effectively with internal and external departments, agencies and stakeholders, and lead public engagement and consultation on a broad range of parks planning initiatives.
We are looking for an experienced individual with considerable knowledge of the methods, procedures and practices, regulations, policies, by-laws and objectives related to the work. You will have experience in budget, contract, project and construction management as well as experience in leading public and stakeholder engagement, consultation, facilitation and negotiation. You possess a strong understanding of park planning, parkland acquisition and development, and community stakeholder partnerships and have strong decision making, problem solving and conflict resolutions skills. Working to build functional teams, you would have the skills to motivate staff, consultants and contractors and work well as a team player across multiple departments.
You have a minimum of 7 years of relevant progressive supervisory and leadership experience preferably in a union environment. A degree in Parks Administration, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, Business Administration, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline is required. Registration with a professional association such as, the British Columbia Society of Landscape Architects (BCSLA), Planning Institute of BC (PIBC), or Engineers & Geoscientists BC is preferred.
