The District of Houston is a municipal government which provides essential public services to the community. Our core services include the provision of safe drinking water, wastewater collection and disposal, solid waste collection, the operation of a recreation pool and ice rink, and maintenance of local transportation networks. The municipality carries out its responsibilities with a $13.6 Million budget and a team of 48 dedicated team members performing a variety of core service delivery roles.
As a key member of the Corporate Services team and reporting directly to the Director of Corporate Services, the DDCS / Grant Writer is responsible for performing duties to support the legislative, corporate, and human resource affairs of the municipality. This includes performing the statutory duties of the Corporate Officer as stated under section 148 of the Community Charter in the absence of the Director of Corporate Services. As a dynamic, self-motivated person, you will be a key member of the senior management team who is committed to achieving the goals and objectives of the municipality. Your commitment to ethical governance will also serve a crucial role in ensuring that the municipality governs in a manner consistent with the principles of representative democratic government.
Your understanding of community service and BC Municipal Legislation such as the Community Charter will make you an ideal candidate for this position. Your passion for history and communications will aid you in ensuring decisions are effectively recorded, kept, and communicated to the citizens of Houston. Your commitment to supporting community projects and effective stakeholder relationships through grant administration services will aid community development and quality of life for our residents.
