Estevan, population of 13,000, is the eighth largest and most southern city in Saskatchewan and is about 16 kms north of the US border. The City is located on the main north-south rail line that provides benefits of tremendous access to the North American market. Estevan is a vibrant and growing community and the commercial hub of the Southeast. The city is the Sunshine Capital of Canada with an annual average of 3,536 hours of sunshine and also has the highest annual number of hours per year with clear skies in the country.
Estevan’s economy comprises: power generation, coal mining, agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas drilling and is known as the Energy Capital of Saskatchewan. The City is a wonderful place to live and play with significant arts and culture, parks and trails, hunting and fishing and numerous sports facilities. The Estevan Police Service serves this community with about 50 staff and a budget of $5 million.
The Estevan Board of Police Commissioners is seeking a collaborative policing professional to guide the Police Service. You will work closely with the Board and the senior team to optimize police services to meet the changing needs of the community. Lead the organization to be innovative; enhance the relationship between Board and staff; and build a climate of integrity and trust across the Service. The Board is seeking a professional who will engage the members and lead the Estevan Police Service to build on past success and realize its full potential.
A track record of effectively leading change, solving problems creatively and mentoring future leaders will be expected. You have a history of championing high levels of member and community engagement and being responsive to community needs and concerns. As a strategic communicator, you have a proven record of achieving public service excellence. You are highly regarded as an inclusive relationship builder that places great value on earning the confidence of others through leveraging team building, community engagement and nurturing strong partnerships with stakeholders.
