Corporate Planning Specialist
We are seeking a strategic thinking Corporate Planning Specialist to join the Town in a full time capacity. The Corporate Planning Specialist is responsible for analyzing and providing recommendations on complex strategic and business planning issues facing the organization. Delivering a full scope of activities in support of the strategic and business planning cycle, including supporting the development of divisional plans and performance metrics in alignment with priority based budgeting. Required skill and ability in non-positional leadership as well as participate and / or lead working groups by facilitating discussion and providing input into the execution of divisional priorities, project plans and business cases to support strategic initiatives.

Develop guidelines and educational tools to assist in building organizational wide capacity in the areas of strategic business planning, performance measurement and reporting. Consult with Directors, and their delegates as required, to assist in developing business plans and performance measures to support requests submitted to Council through defined corporate processes. Provide research / analytical support for projects and prepare charts, graphs and textual presentations of data collected and summarized using standardized tools and methods. Navigate, utilize and update divisional strategic objectives and reports as required.

Interpretation and application of business practices, legislation, and policies. Collaborate and build integral relationships throughout the Town with employees at all levels of leadership and across the organization. Communicate consistently and clearly to divisional leaders and business centres in the delivery of work assignments. Act as a champion for continuous improvement and provide a positive environment and culture in which change can occur. Monitor transformative business planning projects through frequent and ongoing interaction with all levels of leaders.

The successful incumbent will have a degree in business administration, public administration or other related fields. Continuous improvement and Business Process designations from institutions such as Association of Business Process Management Professionals International, ASQ, Shingo or similar would be considered an asset. 5 years’ of progressively responsible experience in a combination of strategic and operational business planning, working with corporate performance measures, budgets and business case development. Knowledge of municipal operations and practices is also required.
