KBRS has partnered with City of Fredericton in the recruitment of their next Deputy Chief Administrative Officer.

Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO) works closely with departmental managers to ensure a commitment to a high level of public service in delivery of the goals and priorities set by Council and in accordance with applicable legislation. The DCAO will work closely with the CAO aiding staff to ensure their success.  This includes working closely with the Mayor, Council and the senior management team, but also enjoying working with our staff from every level of the organization. In this highly responsible professional administrative position, the DCAO supervises City departments and Officers, as well as provides highly effective advice and support to the Chief Administrative Office relating to the development and implementation of policies and strategies that address the unique needs of the City of Fredericton. The DCAO will have a direct impact on the City of Fredericton by working on major infrastructure projects including recreation facilities (new pool), cultural facilities (new Playhouse) and Officer’s Square. Major development projects will also include supporting Fredericton’s vibrant downtown, and the new Frex Development. The DCAO will also participate in Local Governance Reform with an inherent push to work with regional partners and will lead implementing a strategy execution framework and continuing the City’s continuous learning journey. As a member of the senior leadership team for the City of Fredericton, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer assists in setting the priorities for all assigned departments and divisions, providing the strategic framework to assist the organization in meeting the goals of Council and acts as a positive role model for all employees throughout the organization in provision of excellent service to the citizens.

As the ideal candidate, you are self-effacing, ethical and dedicated.  You are a seasoned leader with proven experience and understanding of the broad range of functions within a diverse, multi-stakeholder environment. You are adaptable with a reputation for fostering a work environment characterized by respect, collaboration, inclusivity, and productivity at all levels. You are skilled at process improvement and leading innovation in a manner that fosters collaboration among internal and external stakeholders and achieves the strategic objectives of your organization. Being both persuasive and professional, you have the proven ability to drive results while working with multiple levels of government.  You demonstrate passion and commitment to, and experience with, the delivery of effective and sustainable services and programs consistent with the City’s vision. You can generate insights, alternatives and strategic plans that have potential to produce value for the organization. Your superior communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to act as a spokesperson allows you to communicate your vision to a variety of internal and external stakeholders to get all parties on board.
