This is clerical work of some variety and moderate complexity involving processing license applications and/or permits. The work includes receiving, classifying and obtaining approval for business licenses or permits; calculating and collecting fees; providing factual information to the public; approving and issuing routine licenses and permits; and maintaining files and records related to the work. In addition, an incumbent may perform general typing and clerical duties. The work is performed with minimal supervision and some independence of judgment and action is exercised within defined limits. Unusual or complex problems are referred to a superior who reviews work performance in terms of conformance with established practices and procedures and effectiveness of services rendered.

Preferred candidates will have completed grade 12 and have supplemented this education with typing and commercial courses, plus sound related clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Building or construction knowledge would be considered an asset. The daily hours of this position may vary as per operational need between 7:30am and 5:00pm.
