INSPECTION SERVICES DIVISION
The Inspection Services Division is seeking an experienced Building / Plumbing Official to perform skilled office and field inspection work reviewing all types of buildings; administering the BC Building Code and enforcing municipal bylaws. The Building / Plumbing Official is responsible for plan and document examination and Building Permit processing for the construction, alteration and repair of buildings. The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of the B.C. Building Code, B.C. Plumbing Code, and municipal inspection and permitting processes.
Requirements include: BOABC Level II Certification and POABC Level I Certification are mandatory; two year diploma from a technical college or university in engineering or architecture; three years of directly related experience with codes and standards in building design, preparation of construction documents and construction inspections, including plumbing systems; valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and a personal vehicle available for use as and when required. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work temporary full time hours for up to 3.75 months, with the possibility of extension.
This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $38.22 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits. Job description and competition information can be found at www.saanich.ca.
