COMMITTEE CLERK ASSISTANT

Permanent Full Time Position


The District of Saanich is seeking a motivated self-starter to provide a range of clerical and related support services requiring the accurate and efficient handling of a variety of tasks.   Primary duties of this position include responding to enquiries from external and internal clients where courtesy and tact are required, maintaining the division records and file system, updating the appropriate section of the District’s website, providing administrative support to advisory committees, and undertaking statutory and general meeting notification with set deadlines and specific legal and technical requirements.

The ideal candidate thrives in an environment where accuracy is essential and deadlines are met.  Candidates must have excellent problem solving and communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships.  A strong customer focus, flexibility and initiative in a changing work environment are equally important.

Requirements include: Grade 12 or equivalent, plus one year of post-secondary secretarial or office administration courses; one year office experience performing responsible clerical and secretarial work and experience in dealing with the public, and records management systems, preferably in a local government environment; experience with personal computers and computer-based applications as well as completion of courses in advanced level word processing, intermediate level of excel, and website applications; keyboarding skills of minimum 60 wpm. 

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and will occasionally be required to attend evening meetings outside regular working hours.

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $29.52 per hour and an excellent benefits package. This is an open until filled competition.
