This is computer support work on an auxiliary basis in the provision of computer user support and assistance in the operation and maintenance of the computer applications systems of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services. The Client Support Assistant investigates equipment and software problems, resolving those of a routine nature and referring more complex problems to technicians; processes, records and distributes reports, statistics, notices and other data for parks and recreation services; maintains liaison with external contacts regarding the repair, replacement and retirement of equipment and may assist in the installation and testing of equipment and software; works with some independence of action and refers unusual or technically complex problems to a technical specialist. Work performance is reviewed for conformance with established standards and effectiveness of support provided. Performs other related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by computer applications courses plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Sound knowledge of methods, principles, and practices used in maintaining the parks and recreation computer systems and software as well as the ability to make decisions in accordance with applicable policies, practices, rules and regulations. The successful candidate will need to have the ability to develop computer reports and documentation for end users and system administrators along with the ability to liaise with and maintain effective working relationships. Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
This position is an auxiliary position and the hours of work are typically Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM.
