Inclusion Program Leader - Camps
Up to 10 Casual positions
Term: Spring March 16 – 27, 2020
Summer June 29 – September 4, 2020

Saanich Parks & Recreation camps are well known and respected in the community for their high quality programming and experienced, well trained staff team. As an Inclusion Program Leader, you will rely on your leadership skills to supervise and assist participants with additional physical, behavioural or developmental support requirements in a variety of camp settings (listed below). Inclusion Program Leaders will assist with developing weekly camp plans and activity adaptations, and work cooperatively with participants, parents, and supervisors to ensure camp safety and accessibility.
Spring Break Camps 5 to 14yrs
Various locations include Gordon Head Recreation Centre, Pearkes Recreation Centre, Saanich Commonwealth Place or off-site locations, such as, Gordon Head Middle School, Royal Oak Middle School, and other locations within the community. Program examples: General Day Camps and Specialty Day Camps (Acting, Cooking, Engineering, Gymnastics, Outdoor Programs, Sports, Wilderness Adventure, etc.).
Summer Camps 5 to 16yrs
Various locations include Cedar Hill Recreation Centre, Gordon Head Recreation Centre, Pearkes Recreation Centre, Saanich Commonwealth Place or off-site locations, such as, Colquitz Middle School, Gordon Head Middle School, Royal Oak Middle School, local parks within Saanich, and other locations within the community.
Examples of camps include General Day Camps, the Saanich Neighbourhood Playground Program, and Specialty Day Camps (Acting, Art, Aqua, Computer, Cooking, Dancing, Engineering, Gymnastics, Outdoor, Pottery, Skateboarding, Sports, Wilderness Adventure, etc.).
Requirements include completion of Grade 10; three months experience working directly with participants in a recreational, day camp, or instructional setting, including experience with children with behaviour difficulties, disabilities and additional support needs; satisfactory police information check, Emergency First-Aid and CPR-C. The ideal candidates will have the ability to be inclusive and flexible to ensure a positive environment is created for all participants; demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain a high degree of enthusiasm and personal motivation. The successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, Monday through Friday, length and times will vary between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (hours/shifts are subject to change).
